The Chinese national standard for flexible intermediate bulk containers (FIBCs) is GB/T 10454. The 2000 edition, GB/T 10454-2000, was officially superseded on March 1, 2026, and has been entirely replaced by GB/T 10454-2025, *Packaging-Flexible Intermediate Bulk Containers for Non-hazardous Goods*.

Regarding industry-specific standards, SN/T 3733-2013, *Flexible Intermediate Bulk Containers-Cyclic Top Lift Test Method*, has been superseded; its functions have been taken over by standards such as SN/T 4788-2017, *Flexible Intermediate Bulk Containers-Top Lift Test Method*. Other relevant industry standards include SN/T 4789-2017, *Flexible Intermediate Bulk Containers-Breakdown Voltage Test Method*; SN/T 5160-2019, *Flexible Intermediate Bulk Containers-Grounding Resistance Test Method*; and SN/T 5920-2025, *Packaging for Dangerous Goods-Flexible Intermediate Bulk Containers-Ignition Test Method*, among others.

Internationally, major standards for FIBCs include the Japanese standard JIS Z1651, the European standard EN1898-2000, the British standard BS6382, and the Australian standard AS3668-1989.

In response to heightened environmental protection requirements, new mandatory national standards have begun to take effect. The mandatory national standard *Limits for Heavy Metals and Specific Substances in Express Packaging* was implemented on June 1, 2024; this standard establishes explicit limits on the content of heavy metals (lead, mercury, cadmium, and chromium) in express packaging materials, including flexible intermediate bulk containers.
