Ton bags (also known as flexible intermediate bulk containers, or FIBCs)-flexible packaging vessels designed for the convenient shipment of bulk materials-have become an indispensable tool in modern logistics. Distinguished by their large capacity, lightweight nature, ease of handling, collapsibility, and space-saving attributes, they play a pivotal role in achieving unitized cargo consolidation, enhancing transport efficiency, and reducing logistics costs across a wide spectrum of industries.

In traditional industrial sectors, ton bags serve as the primary packaging and transport method for granular and powdered materials, including chemical raw materials (such as various powders and granules), mineral powders (such as ores and coal), and construction materials (such as cement, sand, and gravel). In the agricultural sector, they are utilized for the storage and transport of grains, animal feed, and similar commodities, providing effective protection against moisture and pests. Within the construction industry, they facilitate the convenient and rapid handling of aggregates such as sand and gravel. Furthermore, in the food and beverage and pharmaceutical industries, ton bags are employed to package materials with stringent requirements for hygiene and airtightness-such as food additives and pharmaceutical raw materials.

As industries continue to evolve, the application of ton bags has expanded into emerging sectors, such as the new energy industry. For instance, in the manufacturing of new energy batteries, specialized aluminum-plastic ton bags (aluminum-foil FIBCs) are utilized to package, store, and transport battery electrode powders that are highly sensitive to humidity and oxidation; these bags are chosen for their exceptional moisture-proofing, oxygen-barrier, corrosion-resistance, and puncture-resistance properties. Additionally, anti-static or conductive ton bags are frequently employed for the packaging and transport of hazardous chemical materials.

In the express delivery and logistics sector, ton bags (often referred to simply as "bulk bags") serve as large-scale consolidation containers for express shipments moving between service outlets and distribution centers, as well as between different distribution hubs. They are integral to the sorting and transshipment processes, contributing significantly to improved operational efficiency.

The field of aerospace has also witnessed innovative applications of ton bag technology. For example, aboard China's *Tianzhou* series of cargo spacecraft, specially designed cargo bags (ton bags) are utilized to package and transport astronauts' daily necessities, personal gear, environmental control and life support supplies, and scientific experiment equipment. These "space packages" feature modified, irregular shapes designed to maximize the utilization of limited cabin space, while their fabric materials are infused with chitin to provide antimicrobial and anti-mold properties. To facilitate rapid identification and retrieval by astronauts in a weightless environment, these cargo bags incorporate a color-coding system (e.g., green for food supplies, purple for experiment materials) alongside QR code identification technology.
